A few months ago, my best friend suggested to me that I make sandwich tutorials for the amateur sandwich-maker, complete with photos and step-by-step instructions. I thought it was a first-rate idea and that I would begin on it post-haste (okay enough with the hyphens).
Everyone knows that a really good breakfast is just fine as lunch, too. That being the case, and the fact that I finally had all I needed to make one, and the circumstances being that I wanted breakfast for lunch, I decided to start with a Riina-style breakfast (or lunch) sandwich.
You will need a griddle or frying pan and butter, oil, or non-stick spray (like PAM), a toaster, spatula/pancake-flipper/whatever you call that thing, and a plate.
Before you begin, start heating a griddle or frying pan on the stove. Start with your basic English muffin. Cut it in half. Stick both halves in the toaster. See? Simple.

Once the griddle is hot, spray it with PAM or use butter/oil so it doesn't stick. Fry your egg while you wait for your muffin to pop up.

I kept the clock in the picture when I cropped it in order to show that yes, like a normal human being, I eat lunch at lunchtime. And I used the crazy angle because it makes me more credible.
Next, the ham. Flip the egg when ready, and place some sliced ham on your griddle. I usually use 2 pieces because the ham flavor is meant to be complementary, not dominant.

The ham is done cooking when it sizzles and becomes stiff enough to flip with the flipper...thing. The egg is done when it's done.
Once the muffin pops up, take it out of the toaster (please don't try assembling it before you do) and place the ham on the bottom half with the egg covering it, as pictured.

And now for the cheese! Over the fried egg, drape a square of American or Cheddar cheese and allow it to melt.

Just an ordinary breakfast sandwich, right? Nothing even slightly unusual - UNTIL YOU ADD THE JELLY!!!

I used only about half a tablespoon of jelly because again, the taste should not be overpowering. I recommend grape jelly, as always, for this kind of thing. It really isn't anything unusual; people have been putting jelly on their eggs for years, whether they're fried, scrambled, or omelet-ed. And yes, I really did use the same knife to spread the jelly. Cuz why dirty another utensil, right? Hmm...it kind of looks like the muffin was stabbed... Maybe it's just me.
Here's the end result. Doesn't look very unusual at all, does it?

There you go - an only slightly unconventional sandwich. After you clean up your mess (if you can really call it that), you finally can enjoy your lunch!

Yes, that really is water in the glass. Because I'm me and I drink water. I like water more than death itself.
And in case you're interested, I discovered that this sandwich has approximately 23,000 milligrams of protein. That's a LOT. More than some energy bars or protein shakes I've had! Tastier, too. So, if you're an athlete...or just trying to grow your hair out...this sandwich is for YOU. Good for breakfast, good for lunch, good for afternoon snack; but a little small for dinner/supper.
*Sigh* Here's my sister's lunch. How very...uncivilized.

At least, that's what I was GOING to say...until I noted that pizza is really just an open-face, ham-and-cheese sandwich. My sister didn't have anything to say to that. Maybe because I didn't actually point it out to her.
There's hope for her yet.
